Sr. Principal Scientist at Charles River Laboratories-Worcester
Jakal Amin is a Sr. Principal Scientist at Charles River Laboratories-Worcester in the Discovery Bioanalytical group. Over the past 20 years, as a bioanalytical scientist, Jakal has been fortunate to have opportunities to gain extensive knowledge in DMPK science: in vitro ADME, pre-clinical and clinical disciplines related to drug Discovery, and development of small molecules by working at CRO [Charles River], Pharmaceutical [Novartis], and Biotech [Agios Pharmaceutical] companies. After rejoining CRL-Worcester in 2017, Jakal enabled the set-up of HT-ADME platform within the in vitro ADME group. Jakal Amin is currently involved in establishing large molecule (biologics) assays utilizing high resolution mass spectrometer to support early discovery projects.
Staff Scientist / Pre-Clinical Surgeon at Becton Dickinson
Darcy Gagne, Staff Scientist / Pre-Clinical Surgeon at Becton Dickinson (BD, Davol) in Warwick, RI (formerly C.R. Bard, Inc) for nearly nine years. As a scientist and surgeon, Darcy designs and implants animal models for new and modified medical devices for submission to Regulatory bodies (US and OUS), marketing and various publication types for biosurgery and soft tissue repair devices. She has been integral in launching many medical devices during her tenure at BD while having the opportunity to teach physicians how to use these devices. Darcy formerly worked for CRL with increasing levels of responsibility from Technician, Surgeon and Study Director in Worcester, Southbridge, and Shrewsbury, MA until the facility closed the doors after nine years of employment there. Darcy holds a Master in Science degree in Biotechnology from Brown University, a Bachelor in Science in Veterinary Science and a Associate in Science in Veterinary Technology – both from Becker College. Darcy also holds a variety of certificates/licenses including Surgical Research Specialist, Certified Veterinary Technician, and Registered Laboratory Animal Technologist. Darcy is eagerly searching for the opportunity to obtain her Industrial PhD in the near future.
Jose Espinal, MBA, CMAR, RLATG
Northeast Account Manager, Purina Animal Nutrition, LabDiet®
Jose Espinal joined the LabDiet® Sales team in January 2012. Jose covers the northeast United States including northeast Canada. His primary focus is to promote sales growth, technical presentations and sound service to Certified LabDiet® Dealers, Principal Investigators, and customers. He also works with the International Feed Manager Mr. Carlos Gutierrez in Latin America on growing and promoting new and current markets for the LabDiet® brand.
Prior to joining the LabDiet® sales team, Jose has worked within the Laboratory Animal field for 20 years. He first started working as an Animal Caretaker from 1992-2000 at the N.Y.S. Psychiatric Institute in NYC, a Surgical Tech from 2000-2004 at Hackensack University Medical Center, NJ and Lastly from 2004 -2012 He worked as a Facility Manager at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He currently holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from SUNY Delhi University, an Masters in Business Administration, International Business from SUNY Empire State College. Jose is currently certified by AALAS as a Certified Manager of Animal Resources (CMAR) and a Registered Laboratory Animal Technologist (RLATG).
Jason Papp has been in the research field for 19 years and have had a variety of positions including Lab & Study Tech, Supervisor, and QA Auditor all of which helped him gain a wide range of skills and expertise. He has used these skills and relationships he's made along the way to help him land his current job which has grown from manager to director over the past 8 years.
