2019 Laboratory Animal Surgery Review Course
Interested in getting an ALAAS or Academy of Surgical Research Certification? Or just want to expand your knowledge of research surgery? This six session course will provide students with the fundamentals of surgical research, and will allow technicians to better troubleshoot problems, develop high quality procedures, and generate better data while providing more humane care to their research subjects. Topics will include anesthesia, analgesia monitoring, aseptic technique, basic surgical technique, post-operative care and assessments, and closure methods!
Scheduled sessions will include an introductory class to cover how to study the material, strategies for exam taking, and common mistakes and pitfalls. Subsequent sessions will be active review sessions incorporating practice tests and quizzes, Q&A, and identification of weak areas. This course will provide access to over a dozen pre-recorded webinars covering the fundamentals of research surgery for participants to review at their own schedule. Participants can attend in person or on-line in an interactive format. On site participation will be limited to a maximum of 8 students
